3rd Renovation Lunch The Energy Sprong Method- a step into the future
The EU Renovation Lunches are a new online format, which bring municipalities, local and regional authorities and stakeholders from all over the EU together. It provides an open and informal space to exchange about best practices, learnings and difficulties in implementing renovation but also to find partners for cooperation and support.
The EU aims at an annual renovation rate of 3% for buildings. To reach sustainability goals and avoid drowning in unusable and non-degradable waste of the building industry, the demand for sustainable building materials in refurbishment is on the rise.
The Netherlands has a goal of retrofitting their entire housing stock, and the affordable housing stock is over 2 million units, to carbon-neutral by 2050. Energiesprong (English: Energy leap) is a program that originated in the Netherlands that implies integrating every aspect from financing, assessment, to the actual delivery of a Energiesprong retrofit, meaning a net-zero energy retrofit using energy positive materials.
Agenda and Key Topics
In the third edition of the Renovation Lunch, Sanne de Wit, Head of ideas at Global Energiesprong Alliance, will talk about the alliance and their ambition to push forward the development of energy positive materials, to inspire the personal and business development needed for change and to drive forward and map the right regulations and financing schemes needed for these changes.
The Energiesprong approach, which they are known for, is part of the Global Energiesprong Alliance. Through years of experience gained with the Energiesprong business model they have grown and evolved and are now able to provide more answers to those questions that go beyond the energy transition.
Following, Paula Baptista, Senior Expert Innovation & Transformation Climate Neutral Buildings at Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH (dena), will talk about how the Energiesprong approach was implemented in Germany. The German energy agency dena is managing Energiesprong in Germany and hosts the market development team. dena is Germany’s center of expertise for energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and intelligent energy systems. They have engaged housing organisations and solution developers interested in co-developing super energy efficient refurbishments (and new built solutions) with guaranteed performance.
There will also be enough space to share thoughts and asking questions about this method and how it can be replicated in the CEE countries.
The event will take place online, on 13 June 2024 , from 12 to 1PM EEST.

About EUKI project Sustainable Building Renovation – Forming the Future” (SURF)
EUKI project SURF is implemented by Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH), Energiaklub Climate Policy Institute and Applied Communications Association (Energiaklub) and Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Agency “Ae3R Ploiesti-Prahova” and aims at initiating deep and sustainable building renovations in municipalities via capacity-building and strengthening exchange. Main elements are a peer-to-peer learning program, online training series, and transnational network activities.
