"Photovoltaic Energy in Floresti"

       At the initiative of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Agency Ploiesti-Prahova, on Wednesday, the 3rd of February 2010, at the Floresti City Hall, a debate on “Photovoltaic energy in Floresti” Project was held; at which representatives of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Agency Ploiesti-Prahova, Mr. Mircea COSMA, chairman of AE3R and president of the Prahova County Council, Mr Adrian SEMCU, vicepresident of the Prahova County Council, Mr Mihail FACA, the public administrator of the Prahova County, representatives of “Electrica” and other big energy companies, of the Oil and Gas University, and also local authorities from many cities and villages in the County had participated. The purpose of the event was to inspire local authorities to access Structural Funds for the implementation of photovoltaic energy projects.

"Thanks to the endeavor of the Mayor and the City Council from Floresti, who understood perfectly the importance of the insertion of alternative energy in the Prahova County and in Romania, and, here we had a premiere at a county and national level, as we had many others. The Floresti Local Council is the only local authority which has received Green Certificates for photovoltaic energy production at the School with classes I-VIII gym of the locality. I am convinced that other local authorities will follow the example of Floresti", said Mircea Cosma, Prahova County Council President.

At his turn, Mayor Eugen Eduard David stressed that: "It is a pride for us that we have succeeded, together with those of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Agency Ploiesti-Prahova, with which we have worked perfectly, to be the first public authority in Romania which got green certificates for photovoltaic energy production. For six years since I am a mayor, I tried to make every day better for people here", said the mayor of Floresti.

During the meeting, proposals of Projects on renewable energy were reviewed and the Project of photovoltaic energy implemented in Floresti was detailed. Catalin Csaszar, Energy Expert at the Agency presented to legislative framework and funding possibilities in renewable energy domain and Daniel Craciun, the Chief of the Technical Service at FDEE Electrica Muntenia Nord Distribution presented the Project: "Installing and connecting the solar cells electric battery to the Grid at the 110/20 kV Station in Floresti”. The necessity for this project was to use renewable energy sources in order to assure the internal consumption, utilities, in a large transforming electric station.

Through the effort of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Agency, the Local Council of Floresti is the only local authority which has obtained Green Certificates for the energy produced by photovoltaic panels at the School with I-VIII classes- Gym and the Cultural House in the locality.

The “Photovoltaic Energy in Floresti” debate was a success, many local authorities have shown interested in implementing similar projects.
